On a BB30 bottom bracket, circlips are required to keep the bearings in place (to prevent getting pushed into the center of the shell). Most BB30 shells have a groove that these circlips snap into. The circlip can be removed if the rider wants to install an adapter to allow a traditional non-BB30 bottom bracket into a BB30-specific frame.

This is not a part that goes bad from riding, but can get bent or otherwise damaged from disassembling the bottom bracket over and over. Since it is such a critical part, don't try to bend back or compromise with a damaged circlip.
When installing circlips on a new or used frame, be sure to clean out the groove that these snap into before installing them. Sometimes debris or overspray from the clear coat can fill a small section of the groove, compromising the stability of the circlip.
Kit includes two original Cannondale BB30 circlips, enough for one bike.
